Mission of the Friends of the Library
Mission of the Friends of the Library: The mission of the Friends of the Library is to support the Rapid City Public Library in their goal to increase public participation and community involvement with the library's service; and to enhance library services to the public.
What we do
The Friends raise funds through an ongoing book sale (and annual events) to provide supplementary materials and programs that enhance the library’s service. Programming support comes in the form of enhancements for our youth programming as well as catered lunches for our "Lunch and Learn" programs. In addition, the Friends provide a bridge between library initiatives and the public.
1) To provide public awareness for the Rapid City Public Libraries.
2) To volunteer in the operation of libraries.
3) To raise funds for service enhancements for the libraries.
You may see a Friend of the Library walking through the stacks with a large cart of books heading over to the Book Sale nook. Feel free to say "Hi" and ask them what being a friend means to them.
